Art in Mongolia

Until the 20th century, Mongolia didn't have a united culture.  Things changed when it became an independent nation, and with independence came attempts at preserving what relics of Mongolia's culture remain.

The folklore of Mongolia has diminished with each generation, although a national culture has been attempted by the Republic of Mongolia.  Some of the Republic's efforts include art schools, a state music and drama theater as well as the sponsoring of drama.

In Ulaanbaatar, there are museums that house treasures from Mongolia's past.  The State Central Museum has antiquities and art treasures, while the Fine Arts Museum has sculpture and paintings.  Another museum, the Museum of Religion is comprised of Lamaist remnants.
