Like all other international tourist resorts, Jeju Island has
hotels, condominiums, inexpensive lodgings, private house
lodging services, and camping grounds with a total of over 250
lodging facilities. Thus you can choose where to stay
according to how much money you have or your personal taste.
The number of Mugunghwa (Rose of Sharon/national flower of
Korea) on the hotel entrance indicates the class (super
deluxe, deluxe, first class, second class). Guest rooms and
restaurants charge additional 10% service fee/tip and 10%
surtax.
Most lodging
facilities are located in places of easy access and where
there is a good view. The public square of Tap-dong area and
Sin Jeju (where it is close to the airport) is especially
crowded with lodging facilities. In Seogwipo City, Jungmun
Resort Complex is the center of lodging facilities.
The vacation areas in the east and west of Jeju Island have
many general hotels and lodgings at private houses. Many
private house lodgings are located near 10 beach areas in Jeju.
They usually cost 15,000 won~20,000 won per room
(accommodating 2 people). Many young visitors prefer to lodge
at private homes to get along with Jeju residents and get a
firsthand experience of their native culture and lifestyle.
Houses designated as Jeju Island's official private lodging
have clean facilities and are provided/furnished with
bathrooms/restrooms, TVs, and kitchens where you can cook your
own food.
