Hunting Ground
Stress Relieving!

 

 

With mild weather all-year-round and the undulating gentle slopes, Jeju Island is just the right place for hunting. The abundance of wild animals including boars, deer, pheasants, hare, and badgers has long attracted many local and foreign visitors.

The grandeur of Mt. Halla and the picturesque view of various trees and flowers make the hunting experience all the more exciting.

The best season for hunting is from November to February. This is when hunting is officially allowed and each person can catch up to 3 pheasants/ducks, 1 dove/snipe, and an unlimited number of sparrows per day.

Jeju Island residents need to get permission from the city hall/county office. Visitors need to get a permit from the Jeju Island branch hunting office of the forestry union (82-64-753-3465).

With the exception of restricted areas (
Mt. Halla National Park, preservation sites, city construction sites, 1§° within and around the expressway, 2§° within coastal roads, islands, and the streets), you can hunt all over Jeju Island.

It's easy to huddle up with cold during the winter but the thrill of hunting and the refreshing wind of Jeju will help restore your energy level.

Daeyoo Hunting Ground
Where you can hunt all-year-long

 

 

Daeyoo Hunting Ground is the only private hunting ground in Asia. Many local and foreign visitors come to here because it is open all year long. It is located 2km away from Jungmun Tourist Resort and is 1,200,000 pyeong in area. Anyone with a permit can enjoy hunting on the grounds of Daeyoo.

3~4 people with a guide and a hound make up one group. Targets include pheasants, pigeons, and quails living in the vast hunting ground. Each person gets a uniform, a sporting gun and 2~3 hours to hunt. Each person can catch up to 3 pheasants per day, and will have to pay an extra fee for going over the limit.

In addition to the hunting grounds, Daeyoo has an outdoor clay shooting gallery, where you can choose the gun you want to use. The excitement of shooting down the orange plate from the sky will blow all your stress away. You can experience the thrill of shooting a handgun at the Pistol Range, where if you get a score above 115, you are named the Grand Master Shooter and your name, with the date of shooting gets inscribed on a wall inside the gallery.

Daeyoo Hunting Ground has supplementary facilities including a pheasant breeding farm, a restaurant that cooks the your catch of pheasants, a horse riding track, and a farm of hunting dogs.

Paragliding
Soaring through the blue skies!

Highlands with an altitude of 100~200m, grasslands for safe landing, and good wind makes Jeju Island an ideal place for gliding. The 300 lowlands and highlands are suitable for beginners to practice on.
Mt. Yeongju in the eastern Seongeup area has favorable wind all-year-long, thus hosting various competitions, such as the Mastercup Paragliding Championship Tournament. Geumak road and Dangoreum on the western industrial road, Useungsaengoreum, Jungmuloreum, Gunsan, Sanchundan, and Byeolcheongbong are other pragliding paradises. Byeolcheongbong has the most visitors due to its easy access to Jeju City.

The best thing about paragliding in Jeju Island is that you can enjoy the beautiful panoramic scenery of the island including views of mountains and the ocean. You cannot imagine the excitement of soaring through the blue skies while breathing in the fresh air unless you actually experience it. Flying from Useungsangoreum (1,087m above sea level, actual height of 430m) is especially thrilling because you can see 2/3 of the entire island at a once and the broad view of Baekrokdam Lake on Mt. Halla opens out right below you.

To paraglide you first need to complete a training program on ground, along with regular experience-based training at the paragliding school (82-64-748-4838). It is also a good idea to get some advice from local gliders. Rental of paragliding equipment costs 30,000 won per day and the training program for beginners costs around 200,000 won.

Scuba Diving

Jeju Island has a great aquatic view with a great variety of coral reef, beautiful underwater caves, schools of fish. Because of its subtropical climate, Jeju Island has a water temperature of 20'C all-year-long, allowing people to scuba-dive in all four seasons. The best time for scubadiving is from April to May and September to October, when the spawning season is over and the water is clear.

Woodo Island has many types of fish, coral, and unexplored caves but also has a strong current. Hyeonje Island has many huge arches caves. Moonseom Island has a depth of 10~30m, suitable for beginning divers and Beomseom Island waters is where you can see colorful coral reefs and fishes of all sorts.

You can easily meet Jeju Island's aquatic world through a professional diving club.

Horseback Riding

How about a horseback ride on the vast alpine meadow?

Most of Jeju Island's horseback riding tracks are located halfway up a mountain, meaning you can enjoy the grand view of the ocean also. Jeju Island has 20 tracks for anyone to enjoy.

Even if you have never ridden a horse, there is no need to worry because all the horses are well-trained and there are stablemen to help guide the horse and give you a comfortable ride. Despite its small size, Jeju Island's 'Jorang' horse (designated as Natural Monument no.347) is strong and gentle enough for children and elders to ride. Jeju Island's horse tracks have been established as an essential spot for newlywed couples to visit.

Sea Fishing
Enjoy one of the world's best fishing spots!

 

With many types of fish and a spectacular coastal landscape, the entire Jeju Island is a great fishing spot.

Open all-year-round, day and night, you can fish on the seashore, bulwark, and the beach.

You can also fish at an uninhabited island or at the sea from a fishing boat. Each rental fishing boat can accommodate up to 6 ~8 people and costs 30,000~50,000 won per hour.

Jeju Island seas has a water temperature of 13~27'C all year, meaning you can go fishing all four seasons. There are over 40 types of fish, including porgy and perch, etc. With the exception of the dead season in March and April, Jeju Island is thriving with fishermen. Fishing season lasts from May to November and the best time is June and July in South Jeju and October and November in North Jeju.

Windsurfing and Parasailing

Let the wind and the sail carry you along the boundless ocean.

Surrounded by water on all four sides and with the frequent winds, Jeju Island is a great place for windsurfing and parasailing. With warm weather all year round, Jeju coasts are always full of visitors wanting to windsurf.

Sinyang, Hamdeok, Jungmun, Hyeopje, Iho, and Hadori beaches are all well-known windsurfing spots. Sinyang and Hadori beaches are especially popular for their favorable geographical features and superior wind conditions. Various boat sailing races are held annually.

Night Tour

 

 

As darkness begins to set in and the streetlights turn on one by one, you will find an entirely different beauty that comes alive in Jeju Island's nightlife.  Enjoy the night at Jeju Island where the ocean glows red with the setting sun and the streets are illuminated by neon lights.

Tap-dong Beach
Plaza of youth - Where the beach festival takes place

Tap-dong beach, located in the center of Jeju City, comes alive during the night. Various events and concerts held at the outdoor performance hall. The promenade, theaters, shopping centers, and raw fish/seafood restaurants are located here. Recreational facilities and rides such as the 'Viking' and 'Bungee Jumping' are provided in the area also, making this a very popular place for young people. The 'Late Night Beach Festival' is held every July and August for the Jeju residents and visitors to have fun together.

The West bulwark on the left of the Beach Plaza is where you can enjoy late night fishing and taste raw seafood. Nearby, an inexpensive raw fish center is located.

Yongduam Rock & Yongyeon Pond (see photos above)
Beautiful view immersed in the soft moonlight!

Yongduam Rock & Yongyeon Pond are highly recommended late night driving courses. Yongduam Rock, known as one of Jeju Island's main attractions, is a group of strangely-shaped rocks rising 10m high on the western coast of Jeju City. The rocks are shaped like the head of a dragon that is about to fly off. According to an early Korean legend, a dragon that came to steal a jade ball from Mt. Halla was shot by an arrow that belonged to the god living in the mountain. The injured dragon sunk into the sea but raised its head which was locked permanently while staring into the sky. In the sunset, it almost seems as though the dragon is truly alive and moving.

Yongyeon Pond is a pond located 200m to the east of Yongduam Rock. With a screen of rocks and the evergreens surrounding the pure water, Yongyeon Pond has long been called 'Yongyeon Yabeom' for its beautiful nightview. A full moon on a summer night especially creates an exotic atmosphere.

Sarabong Park

Sarabong Park is a 150m high mountain peak located in Geonip-dong, east of Jeju City. At the top of Sarabong, you can see a magnificent panoramic view of the well-tended parks, Jeju City, and the beautiful wharfside. From the mountain, you can see the beautiful scene of the sunset and the night scene of Jeju City.
Many visitors as well as Jeju residents come to see the beautiful night view.
It is an ideal place to forget all your troubles and simply relax as you watch the lingering glow of the sunset.
Transportation : Take the local bus (heading towards Hwabuk) at Jeju City and get off at Sarabong Park.

The Sea Road extending from Yongduam Rock is a romantic driving course with elegant cafes and cozy restaurants serving raw seafood. You can have on a drive with your friend while watching the sunset or have a cup of tea at an elegant cafe where you can enjoy the late night view of the ocean.

There are benches outside where you can listen to live music as well as covered cart bars serving (alcoholic) drinks and fresh seafood as a side dish.

The Sea Road is also close to Jeju City and Yongdam Leports Park, where there are picnic grounds and facilities, providing an ideal place for families to come and enjoy.  The cafe lights mixed with the subtle lights of the faraway fish boats create an interesting and romantic atmosphere.
