Trees in Heaven
Limited Edition
SBS 2007

Starring:

Hana ~ Park Shin Hye
Yun Suh ~ Lee Wan
Hana's Aunt ~ Chung Kim
Cousin Maya ~ Reini Asami
Asahi Uchida ~ Fujiwara Ryu

Synopsis:

If your feet are cold, your heart stays warm...

Rising stars Park Shin Hye and Lee Wan first appeared on the small screen together in 2003 as Choi Ji Woo and Shin Hyun Jun's younger counterparts in Stairway to Heaven. Though they only featured for the first few episodes, the two young actors left a deep impression on viewers with their debut performances, and have since become stars in their own right. In 2006, producer Lee Jang Soo followed up Stairway to Heaven with Trees in Heaven, this time with Lee Wan and Park Shin Hye as the leads.

Co-produced with a Japanese production company, Trees in Heaven was shot completely in Japan, and features a cast of both Korean and Japanese actors. Park Shin Hye and Lee Wan received a lot of praise for mastering their Japanese dialogue, and the drama significantly raised their international profile when it was aired in Japan. A picture-perfect Korean Wave drama in every sense, Trees in Heaven follows a heartwrenching romance born in the beautiful snowscape of Japan.

Bright and optimistic Japanese teenager Hana (Park Shin Hye) lives at a small hot springs inn owned by her mother. When her mother decides to marry a Korean man, she tries her best to reach out to her odd, introverted stepbrother-to-be Yun Suh (Lee Wan), who likes to walk barefoot in the snow. He rebuffs her initial efforts, but her cheer eventually wins him over. With their parents on honeymoon, Hana and Yun Suh stand up to Hana's spiteful aunt (Chung Kim) and cousin Maya (Reini Asami) together, and the two develop an increasingly close relationship over time. Yun Suh is forward in his love for Hana, but despite feeling the same way, she cannot accept a sibling romance. After graduating high school, she leaves for Tokyo with her admirer Asahi Uchida (Fujiwara Ryu), and loses contact with Yun Suh. Years later, Hana, Yun Suh, and Maya meet again. Time has led them down very different roads, but the love and the rivalry remain the same.

Trees in Heaven - Region 1 with English Subtitles

Korea is riding on the "hallyu" movement - the globalization of Korean dramas (K-dramas).  Whether it's Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, China or the U.S., viewers who watch Korean dramas are enamored by the "real" acting and fascinating stories that unfold before their eyes.

K-dramas are a refreshing change for many, and some, like Winter Sonata, take them back to first loves.  Others like, Dae Jang Geum, tell about history in a fascinating way with rich costumes and realistic sets.

While some viewers may find them too "mild" for their taste, many others will be thrilled to find tasteful, endearing programming that reels them in and leaves them wanting more...and more...and more....and then they're hooked only to find that they are part of the "hallyu" movement.

Buying Korean Dramas

If you are interested in buying Korean dramas, be careful where you buy them.  Buying from eBay and other sites may be less expensive, but as the saying goes "you get what you pay for."

From personal experience, buying off of eBay or other sites usually results in bootleg or illegal copies of the dramas which results in poor picture quality.  Some bootleg copies also have very poor English subtitles, ranging from jibberish to excessive foul language.  The only site we use and recommend, because of the excellent quality of the DVDs and English subtitles, is YesAsia.com. YesAsia.com is the only authorized distributor of Korean DVDs in North America.
