Korea is riding on the
"hallyu" movement - the globalization of Korean dramas
(K-dramas). Whether it's Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, China
or the U.S., viewers who watch Korean dramas are enamored by the
"real" acting and fascinating stories that unfold
before their eyes.
K-dramas are a refreshing
change for many, and some, like Winter Sonata, take them back to
first loves. Others like, Dae Jang Geum, tell about
history in a fascinating way with rich costumes and realistic
sets.
While some viewers may
find them too "mild" for their taste, many others will
be thrilled to find tasteful, endearing programming that reels
them in and leaves them wanting more...and more...and
more....and then they're hooked only to find that they are part
of the "hallyu" movement.
Buying
Korean Dramas
If you are
interested in buying Korean dramas, be careful where you buy
them. Buying from eBay and other sites may be less
expensive, but as the saying goes "you get what you pay
for."
From personal
experience, buying off of eBay or other sites usually results in
bootleg or illegal copies of the dramas which results in poor
picture quality. Some bootleg copies also have very poor
English subtitles, ranging from jibberish to excessive foul
language. The only site we use and recommend, because of
the excellent quality of the DVDs and English subtitles, is
YesAsia.com. YesAsia.com is the only authorized distributor of
Korean DVDs in North America.

Good Morning Shanghai
CCTV

Starring:
You Haoyun ~ Jang Na
Ra
Wang ~ Shawn Yue
Synopsis:
Following 2005's CCTV period drama The Mischievous Princess,
Korean actress and singer Jang Na Ra graces Chinese television
screens again with the romantic drama Good Morning Shanghai.
Jang, who enjoys great popularity in China, plays the role she
does best, a sassy, headstrong, and lovable girl similar to
her characters on My Love Patzzi and The Successful
Story of a Bright Girl. This time her co-star is Hong Kong
heartthrob Shawn Yue (Invisible Target), making for a
perfectly photogenic pairing. The drama's cast also includes
Yang Xue and Yan Kuan.
You
Haoyun (Jang Na Ra) is a cute and kind-hearted girl, if a
little frank and absentminded. Even though her name means
"fortunate", in reality bad luck seems to accompany her
wherever she goes. As a child, her brother passed away trying
to rescue her, leaving a wound in her family that never
healed. Haoyun finally musters up the courage to move out on
her own, but then she loses all her money in a scam. Wandering
the streets with nowhere to go, she runs into a group of
street louts, but at that moment Wang (Shawn Yue) appears and
saves her. The rich, handsome, and emotionally detached Wang
ends up hiring Haoyun as his son's nanny, bringing new and
unexpected sparks into both their lives.

2000 MBC drama Truth, now available on DVD with

The Host (Movie)
2006
 Starring:
Gang Du ~ Song Kang
Ho
Hee Bong ~ Byun Hee Bong
Nam Il ~ Park Hae Il
Nam Joo ~ Bae Du Na
Hyun Seo ~ Ko Ah Sung
Synopsis:
The
biggest Korean film of the year comes to DVD! Released in July
2006, Bong Jun Ho's monster film The Host ripped
through the box office like a force of nature. Breaking every
record on the book, The Host became the first Korean
film to sell 13 million tickets, surpassing the all-time
record held by King and The Clown. It topped the box
office for five consecutive weeks, writing a new page in
Korean cinema history.
Although
monster films have a strong tradition in Japan and the U.S.,
they're typically relegated to bargain bins in Korea. When
Bong Jun Ho, the critically acclaimed director of smash hit
Memories of Murder, announced he was making a monster
movie, the film industry was unsure of how to react. But this
was the film Bong was always meant to make.
Bong
rounded together an illustrious cast led by Song Kang Ho (JSA),
Byun Hee Bong (Crying Fist), Bae Du Na (Sympathy for
Mr. Vengeance), and Park Hae Il (Rules of Dating).
Meanwhile, a monstrous budget and state-of-the-art CG
technology gave birth to the proverbial beast. The result:
The Host not only conquered the box office, it garnered
almost universal acclaim, winning over critics and moviegoers
alike from Cannes to Korea. More than just a creature feature,
The Host delves into a raw, suspenseful world of
unspeakable horrors, politics, conflicts, and emotions in one
family's relentless fight against the monster that rose from
the Han River.
Hee
Bong's (Byun Hee Bong) family is the epitome of dysfunctional.
His son Nam Il (Park Hae Il) went from promising college
graduate to cursing, molotov-throwing problem child; his
daughter Nam Joo (Bae Du Na) could have become an archery
star, but is now just the one who calms everyone down when
things get heated. The eldest son, Gang Du (Song Kang Ho)
spends his days running a snack stall near the Han River, and
his only hope, indeed the family's hope, is on the shoulders
of his young daughter, Hyun Seo (Ko Ah Sung). Unbeknownst to
everyone, however, a horrible monster has been growing in the
polluted waters of Han River, and it snatches Hyun Seo from
their life. Unable to get any help from the authorities, the
family is determined to get Hyun Seo back on their own, no
matter what it takes.
Review:
Very Good -
To be honest, I hate monster/sci-fi movies. Give
me a comedy, a love story, anything light and funny.
My Korean significant other told me I just "had" to watch this
movie. I assumed he knew my aversion to movies of this
type, but I was wrong. After my blissful ignorance in
the beginning scenes, I became aware this was not a comedy but
a monster movie. In spite of this discovery, I was
riveted to the screen. There was suspense, drama and
yes, comedy - this movie would not have been the same with any
other cast. They were phenomenal in their roles and made
this movie one I
sat riveted watching to the
end (ok, so I covered my eyes a few times, I know I'm a
wimp!).

I Love You
SBS 2008
Starring:
Chul Soo ~
Ahn Jae Wook
Young Hee ~ Seo Ji Hye
Byung Ho ~ Fany
~ Park
Hye Young
Min Ho ~
Gong Hyung Jin
Synopsis:
Based on a comic by Hur
Young Man, whose Tazza and The Grand Chef were
also adapted for television in 2008, SBS drama I Love You
cheekily explores the trials of romance, marriage, pregnancy,
and child-rearing - not necessarily in that order. Appearing
in his first drama since 2006's Mr. Goodbye, Korean
Wave superstar Ahn Jae Wook (Star in My Heart) forms a
newlywed couple with rising star Seo Ji Hye (Over the
Rainbow). Pop singer Fany of Fly to the Sky, in his second
drama after Over the Rainbow, and Park Hye Young (9
End 2 Outs) make up the second pair of reluctant
newlyweds. Biting into serious topics while maintaining a
lighthearted tone, I Love You delves into the modern
generation's perspective on love and marriage with
unexpectedly humorous and insightful revelations.
The last thing Chul Soo
(Ahn Jae Wook) wants is to get married, but he can only bite
the bullet when Young Hee (Seo Ji Hye) gets pregnant after a
one-night stand. Fourteen years younger than her would-be
husband, the sincere and naive Young Hee is madly in love with
Chul Soo, while he's just looking for a way out.
Twenty-something caddish wannabe rocker Byung Ho (Fany) is
also trying to avoid responsibility for his pregnant
girlfriend (Park Hye Young). With the help of sleazy
two-timing divorce lawyer Min Ho (Gong Hyung Jin, Alone in
Love), there may be an escape for these guys, but is that
what they're really looking for?

I Really, Really Like You
MBC 2007
Starring:
Bong Sun ~
Eugene
Jang Joon Won ~ Ryu Jin
Bong Ki ~ Lee Min Ki
Synopsis:
Playful, charming, and
laugh-out-loud funny, MBC drama I Really, Really Like You
(a.k.a. Love Truly) brings romance to the Blue House.
K-pop singer Eugene (Wonderful Life) sheds her pop idol
image by embracing the character of an endearingly brassy and
bumbling country girl, complete with a spot-on country accent.
Competing for Eugene's affections are Ryu Jin (Seo Dong Yo),
who portrays the President's son, and rising star Lee Min Ki (Be
Strong, Geum-soon, Spring of Dalja). This romantic
triangle plays out in the hallowed hallways of the Blue House
(official residence of South Korea's president), bringing an
interesting new twist to the story.
Cheerful country girl
Bong Sun (Eugene) rescues an injured man (Ryu Jin) near her
village one day, and the two become good friends. Little does
she know, the man she rescued is none other than the
President's son Jang Joon Won. Later on, Bong Sun moves to
Seoul to look for her long-lost parents and becomes an
assistant cook at the Blue House. She constantly clashes with
Joon Won's hot-tempered bodyguard Bong Ki (Lee Min Ki), but
the two keep growing closer over time. Already torn between
her crush on Joon Woon, who has a young daughter and an ill
wife, and a blossoming relationship with Bong Ki, Bong Sun
gets even more confused when the mystery of her identity
begins to unravel.
This edition comes with
an exclusive YA Entertainment reference booklet.
Review:
Good ~ It was a
cute show, not something guys would go for though.
Eugene, while good in this drama, reminded me of her acting in
Wonderful Life. Ryu Jin
and Lee Min Ki were both okay in their acting as well.
It was entertaining and I really enjoyed this drama, but it's
not as memorable as other dramas.

Iljimae
SBS 2007
Starring:
Iljimae/Ryung ~ Lee
Jun Ki
Eun Chae ~ Han Hyo Joo
Bong Soon ~ Lee Young Ah
~ Park Si Who
Synopsis:
Returning from his highly
acclaimed drama series Time Between Dog And Wolf,
Korean heartthrob Lee Jun Ki stars in Iljimae, a fusion
historical drama set during the Joseon dynasty that chronicles
the life of a chivalrous robber known as "Iljimae". Unlike
other outlaw heroes such as Robin Hood and Hong Gil Dong who
were accompanied by a band of followers, Iljimae likes to play
solo. Featuring a star-studded cast that includes Han Hyo Joo
(Spring Waltz), Lee Young Ah (Golden Bride), and
Park Si Who (What Planet Are You From?), this charming
swashbuckler far exceeded the viewership ratings of Son Ye
Jin's Spotlight and Kim Ji Soo's Woman of the Sun
which competed in the same timeslot. Based loosely on the
best-selling comic book by Ko Woo Young, the drama strikes a
cool balance between comedy, action, and drama, working in
plenty of offbeat humor (much of which comes from modern-day
spoofs) and offering some genuine food for thoughts about
love, family, and marriage.
Jaunty and fearless,
Ryung (Lee Jun Ki) roams the market street by day and robs
corrupt government officials by night, but his intentions are
anything but malicious as he distributes the stolen goods to
the poor struggling commoners. People call him "Iljimae", the
faceless elusive hero who leaves a unique signature (a branch
of a plum blossom tree) behind at every robbery scene. He's
the most wanted man in the country, but that's not the only
trouble he's facing. His storybook romance with government
official's daughter Eun Chae (Han Hyo Joo) is soon discovered
by the Imperial Guard who has held deep affection for Eun Chae
for some time. And standing in his shadows is Bong Soon (Lee
Young Ah), a jolly feisty swindler who would trade her life
for his at any given minute.

Inside the White Tower
MBC 2007

Starring:
Jang Joon Hyuk ~ Kim
Myung Min
CHoi Do Young ~ Lee Seon Gyun
No Min Guk ~ Cha In Pyo
Synopsis:
Based on renowned Japanese
novelist Yamazaki Toyoko's representative work, MBC's new
drama Inside the White Tower, a.k.a. The Great White
Tower, brings viewers deep into the political inner
workings of the medical field. The drama takes a satirical
look at malpractice and powerplay at a university hospital,
contrasting the paths and personalities of two doctors played
by Kim Myung Min (The Immortal Lee Soon Shin) and Lee
Seon Gyun (Loveholic). Inside the White Tower
was a critical and ratings hit in South Korea, with Ahn Pan
Seok winning Best Producer and Kim Myung Min beating out some
very strong competition for the Best Leading Actor statuette
at the 43rd Baeksang Awards. The drama stands out amongst the
current wave of lightweight offerings with its intelligent,
well-written, and uncompromising story, situating the little
known wheeling and dealing of medicine in a tight and
interesting tangle of deception, friendship, and romance. What
really goes on Inside the White Tower? You may not want
to know.
Brilliant and ambitious,
assistant professor Jang Joon Hyuk (Kim Myung Min) is a rising
star in the Myeongin University Hospital surgery department.
His knowledge and expertise is undeniable, but his cavalier
confidence and cold personality has earned him more than a few
enemies including the department head. While Jang's drive
stems from a desire for success and advancement, fellow doctor
Choi Do Young (Lee Seon Gyun) is committed to the well-being
of his patients, leading to frequent clashes with the
practices and personnel within the hospital. With the head of
the surgery department retiring, Jang seems to be the clear
successor until a new rival emerges in the form of Noh Min Guk
(Cha In Pyo), who has the backing of the department head.
Jang, however, is determined to win at all costs.

Kang In Ha ~
Cha Tae Hyun
Han Myung Ha ~ Jang Hyuk
HJoo Soo Bin ~ Kim Ha Neul
Lee Yeon Hee ~
Kim Hyun Ju
Synopsis:
In 2000, two of Korea's
hottest rising newcomers, Cha Tae Hyun (My Sassy Girl)
and Jang Hyuk (Thank You), teamed up with sweethearts
Kim Ha Neul (Romance, My Tutor Friend) and Kim Hyun
Ju (Calla) in the highly rated drama Into the
Sunlight. The drama caused a media frenzy, with every
newspaper, magazine, and TV station swarming around the four
idols. Into the Sunlight is a coming-of-age drama
about four young people from different social backgrounds
and their quest to find hope and strength in love.
Having had a difficult
childhood because of his parents' divorce, Kang In Ha (Cha
Tae Hyun) struggles big time when his father's future plans
for him come colliding with his own. Lee Yeon Hee (Kim Hyun
Ju) lost her parents at an early age, and her extremely
competitive nature and pride keeps her from getting close to
anyone. An illegitimate daughter of a billionaire, Jung Soo
Bin (Kim Ha Neul) cannot pull herself out of depression. For
Han Myung Ha (Jang Hyuk), whose inferiority complex stems
from past poverty and a single mother, life is all about
climbing the social ladder by any possible means. As these
four young bloods rebel against the world and try to break
down the wall of old establishment, each finds his or her
own solution to life's problems. Into the Sunlight is

Synopsis:
A westernized Irish
adoptee, Joong-A inevitably flies back to Korea to confront
her past and to see the country she is really from, only to
fall in love with her brother, Jae-Bok. Their love is painful,
as they are never meant to be together as lovers, but merely
as brother and sister. The show’s message is that there is
no such thing as noble innocent love and that love is
adversity itself. Therefore, love mustn’t be impeded by
so-called “destiny” or family, no matter how ironic or
difficult the case may seem. Although destiny is cruel and
arduous, the two young lovers radiate pure happiness. The show
describes how love survives the tragic bondage of family,
destiny and romance.
Review:
Good
- It was an
interesting drama. An artistic drama that probably didn't
translate as well as it could have considering what was being
said (in Korean) was poetic. I didn't like that it
portrayed a porn star. It cheapened the drama for me.

Jumong
a.k.a. Prince of the Legend
MBC 2006

Starring:
Jumong ~ Kim
Jae Won
Yoo Mi-rae ~ Han Ji Min
Ko Ah-ra ~ Lee Mi Sook
Choi Si-wan ~ Kim Ji Hoon
Synopsis:
MBC's
hugely popular Jumong is the first of a wave of Korean
historical dramas dealing with the Goguryeo Dynasty
(approximately 37 BC-AD 668). Written by veteran Choi Wan Gyu
(Hur Jun, Sang Do, and All In) and Jung
Hyung Soo (Damo), Jumong is one of Korea's most
impressive and popular historical dramas. It dominated
television screens during its broadcast, attracting viewership
ratings of over 40% in Korea.
Jumong
is the name of the legendary founder of Goguryeo, King
Dongmyeongseong. The story starts with the conflict between
Gojoseon, an ancient Korean kingdom, and Han Chinese forces,
eventually leading to a fragmented Korean Peninsula.
Hero-in-the-making Jumong (Song Il Kook, Emperor of the Sea)
is born in this time of chaos and struggle in the little
independent state of Buyeo. He quickly finds himself the most
unlikely of princes and the victim of a rivalry with his
brother Dae So (Kim Seung Soo, A Million Roses). He is
forced to choose between the boyish charm of young merchant So
Seo No (Han Hye Jin; Be Strong, Geum Soon!) and the
innocent smile of Bu Yeong (Im So Young), a servant he's known
for years. Through dangerous trials and painful lessons of the
heart, Jumong must rise to the occasion to unite the land and
bring peace to his people.
Review:
Excellent
- This
drama is movie quality. It's a thrilling show that
compares to Dae Jang Geum in it's ability to hook you. A
definite must watch, especially for men. If you like

Kamgeun's Mom
SBS 2007

Starring:
Kamgeun /
Myung Geun ~
Kim Ji Han
Kamgeun's father ~
Lee Won Jong
Kamgeun's stepmother
~ Kyun Mi Ri
Synopsis:
Kamgeun's Mom addresses point blank the prejudice and bias
within Korean society against immigrants and laborers from
third-world countries. Winner of the drama category at the
2007 Asia Pacific Broadcast Union and YWCA's Good Program
Award, the critically acclaimed drama focuses on the
discriminatory glances toward Korsians (a term used for the
offspring of Korean and Asian ethnicity mixture) through the
eyes of a 9-year old boy named Kamgeun, played by Kim Ji Han.
A half Filipino and half-Korean, Kim shared his painful
experience living as an interracial child in Korea in a highly
publicized interview at the same time that Hines Ward, a
Korsian-American football celebrity, made headlines with his
visit to Korea in early 2007. Director Yoon Ryu Hae (Snow
In August) discovered Kim through the interview footage
and immediately cast the young boy as Kamgeun.
His real
name is Myung Geun, but everybody prefers to call him by his
nickname "Kamgeun" because of his dark skin tone. Kamgeun is
Korsian - half-Korean from his father (Lee Won Jong) and
half-Filipino from his mother. Unfortunately, his mother
abandoned the family when Kamgeun was very young. Luckily,
Kamgeun's father remarries, offering a glimmer of hope for the
little boy. But the stepmother (Kyun Mi Ri) is extremely
conscious of other people's perceptions, and has a hard time
accepting her mixed-ethnicity son. Sensing this, Kamgeun feels
discouraged and unloved, and behaves as any kid his age would,
covering up his pain by playing a series of nasty pranks on
her. But his misbehavior only brings more trouble as the
stepmother decides to send him off to Philippines for good.
But something holds her back...

Yoo Mi-rae ~ Han Ji Min
Ko Ah-ra ~ Lee Mi Sook
Choi Si-wan ~ Kim Ji Hoon
Synopsis:
Through its

negative aspects of early child education, which prioritizes
knowledge over character, and shows what children really need.
It opens the possibility of alternative education by
portraying how Hyun-se transforms from a hopeless gangster
into a warm-hearted kindergarten teacher played by Kim
Jae-won. The role of his colleague, Yoo Mi-rae, who keeps
making mistakes, is played by Han Ji-min. Mi-rae’s
ex-boyfriend, the ambitious Shi-wan, attempts to take over the
kindergarten and hampers the two people from loving each

Last Scandal
MBC 2008

Starring:
Sun Hee ~
Choi Jin Shil
Jae Bin ~ Jung Jun Ho
Dong Hwa ~
Jung Woong In
Synopsis:
What if
Cinderella was thirty-nine years old and divorced with a kid?
Would Prince Charming still come and rescue her from her evil
ex? A selfless frugal housewife dumped by her cheating
gold-digger husband makes a dramatic turn in life when her
knight in shining armor sweeps her off her feet and even lets
her get her sweet revenge in MBC's hit drama Last Scandal.
In what some critics label as the middle-aged version of
Full House with more crackling humor and emotional depth,
Last Scandal sees Korea's top actress Choi Jin Sil
returning from her highly rated drama Bad Woman, Good Woman
to play a gung-ho ajumma ("married woman") who lands a job as
a house maid for a self-absorbed, egotistic actor played by
Jung Jun Ho (Princess Lulu, My Boss, My Teacher),
who was reportedly lured into the role by his co-star Choi.
Offering an oasis of relief to middle-aged housewives who may
be tired of living vicariously through superficial dramas that
bear no resemblance to their own lives, Last Scandal is
one memorable ride you will not forget.
Happily
married 39-year-old housewife Sun Hee (Choi Jin Sil) gets the
shock of her life when she is diagnosed with premature
menopause. On the contraire, her first love Jae Bin (Jung Jun
Ho) is now a popular actor, all smiles and basking in fame and
fortune. The unlikely pair run into each other at Jae Bin's
commercial shoot. Though twenty years have passed since their
last encounter, Jae Bin is disappointed at the sight of his
first love as a boorish-looking ajumma and turns a cold
shoulder on her. But fate brings them together once again when
Sun Hee becomes desperate for money to pay off her husband's
debt. Having no one else to turn to, she resorts to her very
last choice: Jae Bin. In a hilarious take reminiscent of
Hollywood's Indecent Proposal, Sun Hee takes off her
clothes in front of Jae Bin and offers him one night of sex in
exchange for money. Just then, Jae Bin's manager Dong Hwa
(Jung Woong In, Rude Women) walks in, and in an attempt
to save his face, Jae Bin quickly introduces Sun Hee as his
live-in domestic helper - and just like that, Sun Hee scores
herself a job. But more trouble lurks around the corner and
Sun Hee is soon dragged into a bigger mess.

Law
Firm
SBS

Jung Young Woong ~ Song
Seung Hun
Choi Jan Goon ~ So Ji Sup
Han Dong Ryung
~ Beon Woo Min
Yoon Jin ~ Suh Jung
Park Jung Ah ~ Kim Ji Ho
Synopsis:
Korean
heartthrob Song Seung Heon (A Tale of Autumn and
Summer Scent) leads an all-star cast in the 2001 hit
Law Firm. Featuring the talents of Song, Kim Ji Ho (Glass
Slipper), So Ji Sub (Sorry, I Love You), Suh Jung
(Kim Ki Duk's The Isle), and Byun Woo Min (Barefooted
Youth), Law Firm is an entertaining mix of love,
laughter, and drama.
Unwilling to stay at a position that compromises his
principles, the righteous Jung Young Woong (Song Seung Heon)
decides to start his own law firm. He recruits the four most
eccentric lawyers in the business to be his partners - the
vivacious Park Jung Ah (Kim Ji Ho), the aloof Yoon Jin (Suh
Jung), the money-hungry Choi Jang Goon (So Ji Sub), and the
bookish Han Dong Ryung (Byun Woo Min). These five very
different lawyers come together to form an alternative law
firm, but not all of them have purely noble intentions like
Young Woong.
Inspired
by Young Woong's sincerity and determination, the lawyers work
hard together on many different cases, representing people in
need of voice. However, the law circle is full of conflicts,
competition, and corrupting influences, causing the five
lawyers to clash often. Things get even more complicated when
romance comes into play. Jang Goon likes Jung Ah, but it seems
both Jung Ah and Yoon Jin are interested in Young Woong. Can
this noisy Law Firm overcome all the challenges and
stay together?

MBC 2005

Starring:

Yoon Suk-ki / Alex Yoon ~ Kim Sung Soo
Yang Ha-young ~ Han Go Eun
Synopsis:
Life, it would seem, is all
about choices. Even the smallest of decisions can effect your
entire life. This is the theory proposed in Lawyers,
the new hit K-drama series from MBC.
Kim Ju Hee (Jeong Hye
Young) is a simple hard-working young woman. All she craves in
life is happiness. She works hard as a secretary in a law
firm, struggling to make enough money for her sister's
operation. Secretly, Ju Hee is in love with her boss, the
honorable young lawyer Seo Jeong Ho (Kim Sang Kyeong). Alas,
he is married, so Ju Hee suffices to be a diligent and
hard-working secretary as her way of expressing her forbidden
desires for him.
Suddenly, out of the
blue comes Yoon Suk Ki (Kim Seong Soo), Ju Hee's ex-boyfriend
who has become a mean and shameless man. His client is under
investigation by Jeong Ho and now Ju Hee is forced to see him
every day. But that suits fellow secretary Yang Ha Young (Han
Go Eun) just fine - she is out to land herself a rich husband,
and thinks Suk Ki might just fit the bill.

Park Yu-jin ~ Kim Kyu Ri

Kang Choong-shik ~ Choi Il Hwa

Synopsis:
It brought
us to Paris and Prague, became a leading franchise in the Korean
Wave, and made even bigger stars out of Kim Jung Eun, Park Shin
Yang, Jeon Do Yeon and Kim Ju Hyuk. The Lovers series (Lovers
in Paris and Lovers in Prague) is one of the few able
to maintain its popularity over the years, something which was
confirmed once again when the third and possibly final
installment, Lovers, recorded ratings of over 25% on its
last episode. As a final icing on the cake, Kim Jung Eun,
heroine of Lovers in Paris, returns to conclude the
series in great fashion. Kim plays Mi Joo, a plastic surgeon who
first mistakes gangster Kang Jae (Lee Seo Jin of Damo)
for her brother-in-law, and later falls in love with him. Also
notable is the return to the small screen of Kim Kyu Ri (Roses
and Beansprouts), and another fine performance from Jung
Chan (Golden Apple, Road Movie).
In
addition to producer Shin Woo Cheol and writer Kim Eun Sook, SBS
even brought back the music director of the previous two
installments of the Lovers series, Park Se Jun of Love
and Ambition and My Lovely Fool. Production was
handled by Han Sung Ho, who has worked with Suh Young Eun and SG
Wannabe. Other than The Strings, who perform all the
instrumental tracks in the album, this OST also features the
"Queen of Soundtracks" Suh Young Eun, along with ballad
mainstays like Jo Jang Hyuk.
Review:
Very Good -
I really enjoyed Kim Jung Eun's performance in Lovers in Paris
(although the ending left something to be desired) and the same
is true for her performance in Lovers. Lee Suh Jin
as Kang Jae was
convincing and a pleasure to
watch.
